Weddings at the Church of the Open Door

In keeping with our desire to be an open and welcoming church, we are very happy to work with any couple seeking a Christian wedding. There is no requirement of church membership. We desire to work with you to help make your wedding a special time of commitment between you, your partner, and God.   Please note the following guidelines: Since we see weddings as a part of the ministry of our congregation, it is not our policy to "rent out" our facilities for weddings performed by clergy not affiliated with our congregation. Some exceptions may be made, for example, if our pastor is not available on a specified date.  Other clergy are always welcome to participate in the ceremony.   Persons interested in being married at Church of the Open Door should schedule an initial session with our pastor no less than 6 months prior to the wedding date. At this time you will be discussing your desires and ideas for the wedding ceremony and our pastor's expectations for counseling. It will be YOUR wedding and as such will hopefully reflect who you are individually and your relationship as a couple.    Due to regularly scheduled church activities, Saturday weddings can begin no earlier than 5:00pm and Sunday weddings can begin no earlier than 2:00pm.  No rice may be thrown. Bubbles are an alternative. Bird/grass seed may be thrown outdoors in the parking lot. Our Minister of Music is available to play either organ or piano at weddings. You may also provide your own music, either taped or other vocalists or instrumentalists.   Please call the church office at 314-961-0456 or email us for more information about current fees and availability.
